(KNSI) – A wanted man is behind bars following a high-speed chase on Friday morning in Monticello.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office says they tried pulling over a vehicle near Highway 25 and School Boulevard around 9:30 when the driver sped off. The suspect, identified by authorities as 40-year-old John Proper, entered eastbound Interstate 94 with deputies in pursuit. A short time later, he went off the road just east of Highway 25, and Proper fled on foot. The sheriff’s department used a drone and a K9 unit to track down his hiding spot near the Monticello Dog Park, where he was taken into custody.
He was booked into the Wright County Jail on suspicion of felony fleeing police. Proper was also wanted on several outstanding warrants.
