(KNSI) — Our days long spring snowstorm has finally exited the region, but not before leaving behind several inches of heavy, wet snow and messing up the roads but good.
The Minnesota State Patrol says April 2nd, there were 184 crashes. Of those, 22 involved serious injuries, and there was one fatality. There were also 231 spinouts and vehicles off the road. Six semis also jackknifed.
Thursday, April 3rd, from midnight to 8:30 a.m., there were 15 crashes, one causing serious injuries and 14 vehicles going off the road. There was a jackknifed semi that caused major slowdowns on Interstate 94 on Thursday afternoon near Opportunity Drive. The driver was headed west when the rig jackknifed and ended up in the lefthand ditch, facing the wrong way. No one was seriously hurt, but the freeway was closed for a while so a wrecker could pull them out.
Storm totals across the region varied from 2″ in some spots to upwards of 4″ and 5″ in others.
It likely won’t stick around. The seven day forecast model shows sunshine and a high around 60 for next Wednesday.
