(KNSI) – There are just a couple of weeks left to get signed up for one of St. Cloud’s biggest annual events.

The CentraCare M Physicians Orthopedics Earth Day Run is on April 11th and 12th in downtown St. Cloud. Race organizer Bill Corcoran told KNSI it’s a perfect step for somebody who’s done a 5k and may be ready for their next challenge. “It’s a perfect and a really fun way to experience a little more distance but not too much to be over-taxing.”

Corcoran explained runners could do a relay and split the half marathon with a partner. “We kind of have two finish lines. Your partner meets you out there and a high five, and the second person just takes off. And they [the first runner] get to jump on the bus, and then they get to meet their partner downtown while they come across the finish line. The relay is a lot of fun. I think more people would do it if they discovered that they could have a blast doing that.”

Friday evening’s events feature the Health & Fitness Festival, the kids’ free 1K, the 5K run/walk/roll, and the 5K corporate challenge. Saturday morning features the Bernick’s half marathon and half marathon relay. The event draws over 1,000 people to the streets every year.

It takes 13 miles of barricades, volunteers, and traffic control to make the event a success. To register or for more information, click here.
