(KNSI) — The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an inmate was found dead in their cell at a neighboring jail.
Officials with Anoka County say one of its inmates was “being attended to” when he collapsed just before 12:30 Monday morning. Life saving measures were taken at the scene, but he was pronounced dead. As per protocol, Sherburne County was brought in to probe the matter.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting.
Sheriff Brad Wise says that when something like this happens, it deeply impacts everyone, including jailhouse staff.
The inmate’s name has not been released.
