(KNSI) – The compost site at St. Cloud River Bluffs Regional Park is set to run from Tuesday, April 1st, to Saturday, November 22nd, this year.

It will accept yard waste from grass and leaves to brush and tree limbs. The site is available for residents and non-residents, with annual permit rates increasing from $30 to $40 if you live outside the city. The location does have posted hours rather than 24/7 access, which is strictly enforced.

Permits began being processed on March 17th and can be applied for in one of three ways. The most convenient is online. Accepted permits are then mailed out, which could take several days. If someone chooses to mail their application in, they will also have it sent out via USPS. The total process takes about two weeks. Lastly, anyone can stop by city hall and purchase a permit over the counter.

The hours of operation for the compost site vary depending on the day. It is closed on Sundays and Wednesdays. On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, it runs from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. On Friday, that expands to 12:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday is a full eight-hour shift from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The site is closed for most federal holidays like Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veterans Day. It will also be unavailable on Good Friday, which is April 18th this year. The compost site is located at 522 33rd Street South.
