(KNSI) – Kids can sharpen their skills and expand their knowledge at St. Cloud Technical & Community College summer camps.

Registration opened on Monday, with sessions to be held in June and July. The classes are designed for students in fourth through 12th grade. Kids can take classes to learn about flying, cooking, manufacturing, robots, nursing, construction, etc.

Organizers say the camps will give students a fun educational opportunity in the summer and possibly test out a future career.

Aviation Camp teaches the fundamentals of flight and aerospace technology, including drones, essential engineering, and safety. Fourth through sixth-grade camp is June 17th, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the cost is $55. The grades seven through 12 camp is June 18th, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the cost is $15.

Culinary Camp looks to inspire the next Michelin-rated chef. The camp will be held in the SCTCC Culinary lab. They will be introduced to kitchen tools, learn soup-making basics and make pasta and sauces from scratch. The campers will also take a field trip to the Gorecki Center at the College of Saint Benedict. The sessions will be held July 28th through the 29th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the cost is $105.
Maker’s camp is for tinkers, inventors, and those fascinated by the factory. Students will explore the manufacturing industry through hands-on activities and build a project to take home at the end of the week. There will also be a tour of local manufacturing companies. The camp will be held June 23rd through the 27th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $255.

Students, Technology, and Robots Camp takes a look at the cutting edge of innovation. The week will conclude with a robotics demonstration and competition for family and friends to attend. Attendees also learn about the SCTCC Manufacturing programs, including advanced machining, mechanical design, energy and electronics, and welding/fabrication. During the camp, they will learn about manufacturing careers. The classes are June 30th through July 3rd, 8:30 a.m. to noon. The cost is $125.

Scrubs Camp is a collaborative effort with CentraCare and St. Cloud State University for nurses. Students spend three days exploring a variety of healthcare careers, like nursing, laboratory sciences, social work, alternative therapies, and more. There are hands-on activities facilitated by healthcare professionals and SCTCC faculty members and field trips to learn more about these careers. The camp will be held July 22nd through the 24th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $255.

Tools camp teaches the next generation of handymen how to get the job done. They will learn the names of commonly used tools, how to safely and correctly use them, and build technical skills. Shop for fourth through sixth graders will be in session July 15th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; the cost is $55. For seventh grade through the senior class, the camp will be held July 16th, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the cost is $55.

The Water Project teaches about the conservation of the Great Outdoors and our rivers and lakes. They will learn how to collect water samples, test samples, do experiments, and tour the St. Cloud Water Treatment Facility. The camp will be held July 8th and 9th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at a cost of $105.

The Cyclones Volleyball camp is for kids going into middle school grades. It will focus on the fundamentals, including passing, setting, approach, hitting, serving, blocking, footwork, ball control, and team communication. The SCTCC volleyball team facilitates the camp. The camp is June 24th through the 26th from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., and the cost is $90.
