(KNSI) – A Minneapolis man is the 45th conviction in the sweeping Feeding Our Future scandal.

Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa Kirkpatrick announced the plea deal with Abdihakim Ali Ahmed on Monday. Ahmed was accused of falsifying meal records for a child nutrition site operated out of Gurey Deli in St. Paul. He claimed to have fed between 2,000 and 3,000 kids per day from September 2020 to September 2021. Prosecutors say the spreadsheet Ahmed’s company submitted used a random number generator to calculate the ages of the fake recipients.

Ahmed was alleged to have transferred hundreds of thousands of dollars for personal uses, including buying a 2022 Mini Cooper and a Brooklyn Park restaurant, Kelly’s 19th Hole.

Kirkpatrick boasted, “I am proud of the unrelenting efforts of our prosecution team to hold the defendants-who engaged in a massive pay-to-play fraud scheme that exploited Minnesota and the Federal Child Nutrition Program-accountable.”
