(KNSI) — A few slots are still open for maple syrup tours this spring.
The Stearns County Parks Department is offering the tours at Kramer Lake Wildwood County Park on Sunday, March 23rd, and Sunday, March 30th. Park officials say Wildwood Ranch Maple Syrup has been a family run operation for over 40 years, and they’re pulling back the curtain for fans.
The hour long tours are at noon, 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. and start at the Sugar Shack. Tours will include a short walk to the maple forest to see both traditional and modern ways of collecting maple sap with buckets and vacuum pipelines. Mud appropriate footwear is highly recommended.
In the sugar house, the tour will demonstrate how processing equipment like reverse osmosis machines and evaporators are used to convert sap from the trees into syrup.
