(KNSI) – Albany boys’ basketball is facing what will likely end up being its toughest test of the season on Friday night in the MSHSL Class AA semifinal round.
The Caledonia Warriors look to spoil the Huskies’ perfect season, entering the contest at 29-2 overall. They haven’t lost themselves since January 11 against Stewartville. Both teams have been in great form in the postseason. Albany cruised through section 6AA by an average margin of victory of over 40 points per game. Caledonia won each of their section games by at least 21 points.
The Williams Arena stage wasn’t too much for either team. Albany won by 23 against Pelican Rapids. Caledonia bested Minnehaha Academy by an impressive 16 points.
The Warriors are led by Reid Klug, who topped 1,000 career points earlier this season. Freshman Grant King is another offensive weapon. He netted 12 in the quarterfinal round.
Albany is balanced offensively, regularly seeing contributions from forwards Sam Hondl and Ethan Meyer, plus guard Zeke Austin. The Huskies are stout on the defensive end, as well.
The game is scheduled to tip off at 6:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on KNSI. The victor will punch their ticket to the Class AA championship contest Saturday evening.
