(KNSI) — Bail has been set at $4 million for the man accused in a fatal stabbing last week.
Stearns County Judge Matthew Engelking ordered bail for Marquis Fisher in the amount of $4 million without conditions or $2 million with conditions. Fisher is charged with second degree intentional murder and second degree assault with a dangerous weapon after police say he stabbed 36-year-old Shane Michael Brunner twice following a fight on March 13th. Brunner died the next day at CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital.
Investigators say 25-year-old Fisher knew Brunner, and the two had been together at the house on the 600 block of 12th Avenue North all day long before they started fighting. Fisher, who is homeless, dropped the knife and fled the scene before police arrived. He was arrested just after 11:00 a.m. March 14th and booked into the Stearns County jail.
He could be sentenced to more than 40 years in prison if convicted.
