(KNSI) – Some local infrastructure projects could wind up canceled because of a cost-saving measure implemented in Washington, D.C.

When Congress agreed to a continuing resolution to fund the government until the end of the fiscal year on September 30th, it included a provision to trim $13 billion from the discretionary budget. That put a halt to Congressionally Directed Spending on area bonding projects.

St. Cloud Public Services Director Tracy Hodel emailed KNSI News that an application to help pay for the Heatherwood Road expansion in the warehouse district was unsuccessful. Some others are “on hold” but have not been officially rescinded yet.

Sartell says it can only complete its designs to help mitigate flooding on 15th Street North with funding from multiple sources, including the federal government. The city says it cannot give an estimated completion timeline as staff must go back to the drawing board to lock in financial contributions.
