(KNSI) – Federal charges have now been filed against the GOP state senator arrested for solicitation of a minor.
Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa Kirkpatrick announced Justin Eichorn of Grand Rapids will face one count of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor in U.S. District Court. He is also facing a felony charge in Hennepin County of prostitution with someone “reasonably believed under 18 but at least 16”.
Federal court documents say Eichorn responded several times to an online ad offering prostitution services between March 11th and March 17th. During the messages, he asked for a photo of her “with a lot less clothes” and asked “What’s a guy gota do to get with the hottest girl online tonight.” Over the course of messaging, the undercover officer repeatedly represented themselves as being 17 years old, not 18, but Eichorn still asked how much it would cost for various acts. He asked for a half-hour visit and a meeting was set up in Bloomington.
Police were waiting for Eichorn on Monday. They arrested him and searched his vehicle. The criminal complaint reveals two cell phones, a condom, and $129 in cash were discovered inside.
Eichorn is 40 years old, married, and has four children. He has been a state senator since 2017.
