(KNSI) – A balanced scoring attack powers the Albany boys’ basketball team into the state semifinals.

The Huskies had four players in double figures Tuesday and six with at least seven points. As a squad, they shot almost 57% from the field, finding good looks thanks to 24 team assists. Playing at Williams Arena, Albany topped Pelican Rapids, 80-57.

The only Husky to struggle from the field was guard Zeke Austin. He paired a 3-11 shooting night with seven free throws to get to 14 points. Austin was joined by guard Braeden Justin in a tie for second in scoring on the team. Center Sam Hondl led the squad with 16 and forward Ethan Meyer added 12. Guard Elliott Burnett finished with nine points, plus another seven from Bennett Hylla off the bench.

Pelican Rapids opened the scoring with a three pointer 33 seconds into the first half. That was the largest lead of the night for the Vikings. At the break, Albany had flipped the script and enjoyed a 19-point advantage.

Albany is now 30-0, the number one overall seed, and will face Caledonia on Friday evening in the next round of the state tournament. Albany is looking for its second Class AA title in three years.
