(KNSI) — A homeless man suspected of a fatal stabbing last week has been charged.
Prosecutors say 36-year-old Shane Brunner and 25-year-old Marquis Fisher had been together all day on March 13th at a home on the 600 block of 12th Avenue North in St. Cloud when the two began to fight. Brunner called 911 at 9:09 p.m. and told police Fisher stabbed him in his lower back and his backside, and he was beginning to lose consciousness. Authorities arrived and performed life-saving measures at the scene before Brunner was rushed to CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital. He died the next day.
A witness told police he had been in the backyard of the home when the two started to fight. He saw Fisher with the knife but did not witness the stabbing. He tried to stop the fight by grabbing the knife and head-butting Fisher before removing him from the house. He gave Brunner first aid as Fisher fled the scene.
Police from Avon, Sartell, St. Cloud, and Waite Park, along with deputies from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Department worked to track down Fisher that night. He was found the next morning by investigators with the St. Cloud Police Department’s Community Response Team and arrested.
Fisher is charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of second degree assault.
