(KNSI) – The new St. Cloud mayor is making public safety a priority early on in his term.

The city has set up a town hall at the St. Cloud Police Department on Thursday, April 24th, focused exclusively on the subject. It is scheduled to last from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Jake Anderson put out a public notice on Tuesday about the event, inviting St. Cloud residents and those who work in the city for what he has termed an important conversation on enhancing community safety. The St. Cloud Police Department will be joined by the St. Cloud Fire Department and public health officials for the town hall.

Last week, the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force issued a warning about a rise in overdose deaths in the St. Cloud area early in 2025. Fentanyl and xylazine have caused four fatalities in the first couple of months of the year in St. Cloud alone and are suspected in several others.

For those wishing to attend the town hall, the St. Cloud Police Department is located at 101 11th Avenue North on the western end of downtown, not far from the library.
