(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University has received a $327,000 grant to help a construction contractor ensure its workers stay at the cutting edge of the industry.

The grant allows the school to team up with the company Veit as part of the Minnesota Job Skills Partnership program. Veit is teaming with SCSU’s Professional and Continuing Education, or PACE, department.

Veit hopes to create a customized training program with revamped learning materials. The certifications are meant to allow employees keep competitive in the market in the face of technological advancements.

Veit is based in Rogers. It specializes in some of the more niche aspects of construction, such as earthworks, demolition, laying foundations, and underwater building. It is one of over 20 companies that have partnered with PACE to update continuing education curriculum.
