(KNSI) – One of life’s constants is death and taxes, with the latter coming to Stearns County Residents in the mail.

Officials say your property tax statements are coming. They were sent on Wednesday. The first half of payments are due May 15th. Homeowners and businesses are encouraged to pay on time to avoid penalties and help keep local government going. Property taxes fund area schools, cities, counties and townships. There are five ways to make the payments and you can get more information on those by clicking here.

New for renters this tax year is they will claim the Renter’s Credit on their Minnesota Individual Income Tax Return instead of filing a separate return.

For additional information or questions, call the Stearns County Treasurer’s Office Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at 320-656-3870.
