(KNSI) — The Minnesota State Patrol says an 18-year-old Big Lake man is dead after a crash on Highway 10 near Becker late Monday night.

According to the crash report, just after 11:15, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop Deke Alexander Ward Sibley for a traffic violation on eastbound Highway 10 when he crashed into a Chevy Silverado pickup truck at 165th Avenue.

Sibley was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, 75-year-old Douglas Laramore of Minneapolis, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Monticello Hospital for treatment.

Sources tell KNSI News Sibley was fleeing police at the time and the impact of the crash sent the pickup into the ditch. Highway 10 was closed for several hours for investigation and reconstruction.

The crash information is true and correct as of the time of publication. Details are subject to change without notice.
