(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Area School Board will consider adopting a new anonymous threat reporting system at Wednesday’s meeting.

It would allow school and law enforcement officials to identify at-risk individuals before they can harm themselves or put the lives of others in danger. “Say Something” was born in the aftermath of a mass shooting in Connecticut. It was developed by the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. Tips can be sent in by fellow students or adults.

The call center Say Something uses is staffed 24/7 by certified crisis counselors. They are trained to triage. Urgent threats are sent to law enforcement, Title IX and other administrative requests go to human resources contacts, and other concerns are forwarded to principals and school teams.

Superintendent Dr. Laurie Putnam tells KNSI News via email that there is no reporting system in place at the district.
