(KNSI) – One of central Minnesota’s longest-serving prosecutors is calling it a career.
Sherburne County Attorney Kathleen Heaney has spent the last 20 years as one of the county’s top officials and 30 years with the department in all. She will step down from her role and retire on April 30th.
“It has been my honor to serve the people of Sherburne County and, on behalf of myself and my family, I am thankful,” Heaney said. “I leave the office in the capable hands of those who I have had the privilege to work with.”
County board members thanked her for her years of service and wished her the best. In accordance with state statute, the county board will begin its effort to select and appoint a County Attorney to complete the current term, which ends on January 4th, 2027.
