(KNSI) – A husband and wife appeared in Sherburne County District Court Friday after being arrested for allegedly running a DMT manufacturing lab in their garage.
Kevin Michael Schwietz and Kelsey Jean Schwietz are charged with first-, third-, and fifth-degree controlled substance crimes. DMT is a psychedelic known for causing potent hallucinations. Bad trips are usually associated with intense fear and paranoia. It is classified as a Schedule I narcotic.
Members of the Sherburne County Drug Task Force say that drug paraphernalia was within reach of children. The criminal complaint also alleges that Kevin had ammunition in the home despite being a felon. In total, 68 pounds of liquid DMT and 61 grams of powdered DMT were found. Additionally, there were small amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine, and psilocybin mushrooms at the Big Lake residence.
The Big Lake Police Department and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration assisted with the bust. The raid took place on Tuesday.
