(KNSI) – St. Cloud Cathedral has made it to another Minnesota State High School League Class A Boys’ Hockey State Championship Game.

Their quest to repeat was bolstered Friday by two goals from forward Jaeger Wood. He lit the lamp top shelf at 7:21 into the first period to give the Crusaders an early two-score margin. It proved to be the game-winning tally as they took the semifinal against Orono at the Xcel Energy Center, 4-1.

Wood followed it up with the dagger late in the third. Almost immediately after the Bears had pulled within 3-1, Wood slipped one into the empty net with about two minutes left in regulation.

Bo Schmidt and Joey Gillespie had the other goals for the Crusaders. Wood assisted on one of those, boosting his point total in the game to three. Cathedral’s Mr. Hockey finalist John Hirschfeld got a helper on the afternoon.

Second-seeded Cathedral will play Saturday against the winner of #1 Hibbing/Chisholm/VCA and #4 East Grand Forks.
