(KNSI) – The man accused of trying to intimidate a court witness during the Feeding our Future trial has pleaded guilty.
He will have an enhancement added to his sentencing guidelines for obstruction of justice. Court documents allege that 33-year-old Abdinasir Mahamed Abshir forged records to show about 1.6 million meals were distributed by an organization called Stigma-Free Mankato through a shell company named Horseed Management. Stigma-Free Mankato netted roughly $5.4 million from the scheme.
On top of his role in the Feeding our Future scandal, Abshir is alleged to have tried to pull a cooperating witness aside for a one-on-one conversation in the courthouse bathroom on February 18th.
Abshir is the 37th person to plead guilty in the scandal. The trial against founder Aimee Bock is still ongoing.
