(KNSI) — A serial rape suspect wanted in at least three sexual assaults in St. Paul was arrested in St. Cloud on Monday.
According to a press release from the St. Cloud Police Department, members of the Community Response Team, Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force and St. Cloud SWAT executed a search warrant at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Maine Prairie Road around 4:15 p.m. The suspect, 18-year-old Rakai Eugene Davis, was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Stearns County jail.
St. Paul police say in May of 2023 and November and December of 2024, Davis met people using dating apps and websites and then forced them to have sex at either knife or gunpoint. One of the women said Davis hit her in the back of the head with a gun, which caused her to have a panic attack. She took medication to help her calm down before Davis raped her. Another woman said he forced her to have sex in an alley. DNA samples collected during an investigation all matched Davis, who lives in St. Paul.
He has been charged with six counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct. A warrant shows Davis was considered a “high risk to public safety,” which “necessitated immediate custody.”
St. Cloud police worked with St. Paul police investigators to track Davis down.
