(KNSI) — A local chicken chain has flown the coop.
KNSI News was alerted by a customer late Wednesday that Slim Chickens in St. Cloud was closing. Driving by the building and checking the company website and Facebook page, we have confirmed the restaurant is permanently closed.
The website said the location was shuttered, and the last post on its Facebook page was February 27th, telling customers a promotion was ending that day. Under the hours of operation, it said: “permanently closed.”
The restaurant opened in 2022 at the site of the former Shopko Store parking lot on 2nd Street South. At that time, Letnes Restaurant Group’s Marketing and Beverage Manager Jolene Chatfield told KNSI News it was their second Minnesota store after Mankato.
It was the fourth fast food chicken joint to open in the city in recent years. Chick-fil-A opened in St. Cloud in 2016. They were followed by Popeyes Chicken and Raising Canes in 2021.
