(KNSI) – A St. Cloud man has been sentenced to nine years in prison after admitting to drugging and raping a 12-year-old girl in 2021.
According to prosecutors, 24-year-old Weston Edward Williams assaulted the girl in May 2021 after they used marijuana together. She told investigators after she got high, she was feeling disoriented and passed out. When she regained consciousness, Williams was raping her. The crime went unreported until October 2023, when police launched an investigation.
A search warrant later revealed a social media exchange on January 23rd, 2024, in which Williams admitted he knew it was wrong and he “shouldn’t have done that.”
Williams pleaded guilty in November to second-degree criminal sexual conduct as part of a plea deal that dismissed a first-degree charge. On Thursday, Stearns County Judge Carl Ole Tvedten sentenced him to nine years in prison, with credit for five days served. Upon release, he must register as a predatory offender for ten years.
