(KNSI) — Some scary moments for a semi driver on a snowy Interstate 694 Wednesday morning.

The driver was heading west near White Bear Avenue just after 6:30 when the rig jackknifed. That sent the front driver’s side tires over the edge of the bridge. The rest of the cab stayed put, and no one was hurt, but video from the Minnesota Department of Transportation camera over the scene showed it could have been a very different and potentially tragic story.

The state patrol says crash stats between midnight at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday showed 70 property damage crashes, two of them with injuries, 111 vehicles off the road, 25 spinouts and seven jackknifed semis.

The National Weather Service’s official snow total at 6:00 a.m. for St. Cloud was .8″ and the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport had 7.4″ while the forecast office in Chanhassen had 6.5″. Elko New Market south of the Twin Cities got the most with a CoCoRHaS observer reporting 11.5″ inches.

We will suffer a bout of weather whiplash as we may touch the low 60s on Monday.
