(KNSI) — The former head of Too Much Talent and member of the St. Cloud Planning Commission made her first appearance on a misdemeanor gun charge Monday in Stearns County District Court.
According to the criminal complaint, Lenora Hunt is accused of helping Devounteno Lavance Tyson sell a handgun to a confidential informant who was working with the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force. On July 30th, 2024, the informant contacted Tyson, who agreed to sell a gun. Tyson was already under investigation for nearly a year related to fentanyl sales in the St. Cloud area. Tyson was recorded before a meeting with Hunt where she explained she was running for mayor and may be able to help him and several co-defendants with criminal cases once she wins. They also talked about a gun in her possession, the amount of money she wants for it, the large amounts of grant funding she is getting, and other details regarding Hunt’s daily life. Tyson also vaguely discussed bonding out of jail and Hunt “having a lawyer ready to go.”
According to investigators, Tyson entered Too Much Talent to meet with Hunt and returned a short time later with a loaded .9mm handgun and handed it over to the informant. Police say at no time did she make any attempt to comply with Minnesota statutes regulating firearm sales.
Hunt is charged with one gross misdemeanor count of transferring a pistol/assault weapon illegally.
Records show that during the fentanyl investigation, numerous co-conspirators frequented Too Much Talent, and several of those people have been charged with selling fentanyl. Hunt is not facing any charges related to those cases.
She is due back in court May 15th.
