(KNSI) – A suspect at large who was wanted for murdering a teenage boy earlier this month has been captured.

Kevon Marquiose Washington was booked into the Benton County Jail early Friday morning after being taken into custody in Wausau, Wisconsin on Tuesday. He is charged with second degree murder and aiding and abetting a robbery.

Prosecutors say police were called just before 3:00 a.m. February 2nd to the Victorian Terrace apartments on 2nd Street Northeast for a report of gunshots. They arrived to find 17-year-old Layson Davis dead in the stairwell with a gunshot wound to the chest. A 19-year-old man from St. Joseph was found lying in a hallway and had been shot twice. He was rushed to the hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

Court documents say Washington was part of a group that showed up for what was thought to be a gun purchase. Bernard Bowens met Davis and the other man in the hallway, flashing a wad of cash. He then grabbed the gun and took off running. Bowens and Davis got into a shootout in the stairwell, which resulted in Davis being killed. Washington and two other men then entered the building. Washington shot the second victim twice and then fled the scene.

Bowens is still on the run.
