(KNSI) — St. Cloud Fire Chief and interim City Administrator Matt Love is adding another job to his resumé – dancer.
Love is lacing up his dancing shoes and putting on the moves for the ninth annual Dancing With Our Stars event to raise money for the Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation. The Central Minnesota Community Foundation’s Women’s Fund puts on the show each year to raise money to help out nonprofits that benefit women and girls.
He explained to KNSI News where his dollars would be donated. “We want to promote education and leadership for women in public safety. Women in police and fire, and hopefully, elevate in the roles and be in charge of the fire department and the police department.”
He will be teamed up with professional Savanna Bain. Love hopes his two left feet don’t get in the way. “I am not a professional dancer, but I’m going to do my best. The pro is going to teach me how to do it, of course. I feel like, as long as I don’t fall down, and we raise some money and big awareness for this organization, that’s the goal.”
The event features six community star dancers paired with a partner for a chance to win up to $15,000 for the nonprofit of their choice. Beside the team of Love and Bain, This year’s lineup includes:
Community Star Eunice Adjei with St. Cloud Financial Credit Union will dance with Nick Benner to benefit the Tri-Unity Foundation.
Community Star Abbey Graves with Abbey Graves Productions will dance with Tuan (David) Le to benefit the Indy Foundation.
Community Star Ashley Green with Green Thumb, Etc. will dance with Jon Skuza to benefit Open Hearts Home, Inc.
Community Star Angie Hill with Minnesota Concrete Products will dance with Michael Adams to benefit Anna Marie’s Alliance.
Community Star Kevin Johnson with K. Johnson Construction will dance with Janell Missler to benefit the Tanner’s Team Foundation.
The final competition scores will be determined through a combination of judges’ scores and dollars raised for nonprofits, with 40% of the score coming from the judges and 60% from fundraising efforts.
This year’s Dancing with Our Stars will be at the College of St. Benedict on June 9th, 2025.
In 2024, $463,005.93 was raised by dancers and special events held in the area by the selected nonprofits.
