(KNSI) — The annual Pack the Porches Food and Fund Drive is Friday morning and is the local capstone to Minnesota FoodShare Month.
Staff from the Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf will collect nonperishable food items and cash at three spots around town on March 28th. From 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., donations can be dropped off at Pioneer Place on Fifth (22 5th Avenue South, downtown St. Cloud), St. Cloud Financial Credit Union (1716 Pinecone Road South in Sartell), and St. Cloud Hyundai (900 2nd Street South, Waite Park). Donations can be made online by clicking here. Coborn’s is also sweetening the pot by matching all food and monetary contributions up to $15,000.
Donations stay local to help hungry families in central Minnesota, but it is part of a wider effort to help stock food shelves across the state. A record breaking nine million visits were made to Minnesota food shelves last year.
For those who can’t make it to Pack the Porches in person, FoodShare Month lasts from March 1st through April 6th, so drop offs can also be made online and at the Catholic Charities Food Shelf (157 Roosevelt Road, Suite #100, Door C in St. Cloud).
