(KNSI) – Everything is about to change for Waite Park city government, and there is a lot residents should know.

The city hall renovations will begin in just months to add a new wing for an expanded police station, while touching up the government and fire department sections. An open house is scheduled for Monday, March 10th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in council chambers to update people on the latest plans.

Everyone is welcome to attend. By summertime, the police department and city staff will be operating out of the Public Works building on a temporary basis. The hope is that they could return before the project is fully completed. The estimated finish date is late 2026.

Having everyone relocate should reduce overall cost and speed up the project timeline. The price tag is about $25 million. It is being funded through a pair of bonds backed by a half-cent local use sales tax.
