(KNSI) — On Monday night, the St. Cloud City Council is set to approve a deal to pay Minneapolis-based ICS Consulting $872,000 to manage the construction of the new fire station and training center on the southwest side of town.

This will be spent finalizing designs and working to make the complex as efficient as possible. Next year will be spent finding a lender for the project, followed by groundbreaking. In the fall of 2027, the new station should be up and running at full strength.

In November, 61% of voters gave their blessing to spend $43.5 million for the fire station and training center being built off of 33rd Street South and County Road 74 near the new Tech High School. It will cost the owner of an average $234,000 home about $100 a year in taxes. Property taxes will be collected for up to 20 years until the loan is paid back.

ICS was one of nine companies the city looked at.

The contract is listed in the city council’s consent agenda, which means it could be passed without further discussion or pulled for additional conversations.

The meeting gets started at 6:00 p.m. inside city hall.
