(KNSI) – Stearns County is shortening the hours for the drive-thru at its license center in Waite Park next month.
Beginning on Monday, March 3rd, it will no longer be open until 5:00 p.m. The new hours will run 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Services offered at the drive-thru include motor vehicle and DNR renewals and disability certificates.
The center handles transfers, new licenses or state ID cards, handicap parking, marriage certificates, birth and death certificates, and notarized documents for walk-in customers only. Many of the services can also be completed through the virtual license center.
The coming months will likely be busier than normal as REAL ID goes into effect on May 7th. A passport, passport card, or enhanced driver’s license with REAL ID will be required to board a plane, enter a secure federal building, or visit a military base.
