(KNSI) – Three Minnesota Congressmembers have joined with the GOP caucus in the state house to request a swift appointment of a new United States Attorney for the District of Minnesota.
In a letter to President Donald Trump and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, they write that fraud has run rampant in the state over the past six years and question whether Governor Tim Walz’s administration is serious about curbing it. They cite the 2022 Feeding Our Future scandal and the investigation into the Child Care Assistance Program that was confirmed last month.
The letter states, “Minnesotans have rightfully lost faith in Governor Walz’s administration to provide necessary oversight and guardrails ensuring that their tax dollars are going to provide critical services to their communities.” It adds that November’s election was a sign that Americans want accountability in their government.
The letter was signed by Brad Finstad (MN-01), Michelle Fischbach (MN-07), and Pete Stauber (MN-08). Former U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger stepped down just before Trump’s inauguration. Lisa Kirkpatrick is temporarily filling the role.
