(KNSI) — Plow Bunyan has his sidekick! Eight of them, actually.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation revealed the 2025 Name a Snowplow Contest winners. The winners are:
Anthony Sledwards
Skol Plow
Dontcha Snow
Plowabunga
You’re Welcome
We’re Off to See the Blizzard
Snowtorious B.I.G
I Came, I Thaw, I Conqured
Those eight names came from the 50 finalists which were selected from the 7,300 submissions sent in by the public.
MNDOT Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger says they always look forward to this contest. “Each season, we have a lot of fun coming up with and soliciting for very fun, creative names for our snow plows. But also it is a great opportunity to spotlight the hard work and dedication of our snow plow operators. And I call them snow plow operators because they’re not just out there driving plow trucks across the system. They are operating some pretty sophisticated equipment, and it is hard work that they do out there. It’s very important work.”
The DOT has 200 trucks that clear 800 miles of roads. The state also has 1,600 plow operators.
She also stressed the importance of giving the plows a wide berth. There have been nearly 40 snow plows that have already been hit by other vehicles this season. Daubenberger adds, “Even one hit is too many, so with more snow coming later this week, we don’t want that number to increase, so please help us all stay safe out there.”
