(KNSI) – A Brainerd man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for fentanyl distribution.
According to the criminal complaint, officers executed a search warrant on a storage unit rented out to 28-year-old Dazaughn Ellis West in August 2023, where they found around 15,000 pressed fentanyl pills weighing 2.8 pounds. When they went to his home, they uncovered another 150 grams of fentanyl pills and cocaine, plus a rifle and pistol.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota. The investigation was handled by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, Brainerd Police Department, and the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division.
West was sentenced in federal court on February 6th. In addition to the ten-year prison sentence, he will be subject to five years of supervised release.
