(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Cathedral High School Hall of Fame welcomed its newest class on Friday.
The five new members were honored at a luncheon and had a chance to talk with students at an assembly. They will be formally inducted into the Hall of Fame at halftime of the Girl’s Basketball game against Foley on Friday night. The tip-off is at 7:00.
The 2025 inductees are:
Dr. Bernard “Brownie” Williams graduated in 1973. He was a four-year baseball letter winner and had two professional tryouts as a pitcher with the Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles. Williams was a three-year football letter winner and hockey captain and led the team in scoring. The St. Cloud Times called him “the best player to ever put on a pair of breezers in St. Cloud’s history.” A successful chiropractor and businessman in the area. Williams passed away in 2019.
Theresa Spiering earned her diploma in 1979. She was the first Cathedral athlete to qualify for the Minnesota State High School League State Track and Field Meet. She is on the Cathedral All-time Track and Field list in 200m, 400m, 1600m, long jump, high jump and discus. In basketball, Spiering was named to the all-conference team in 1977 and 78 and to the all-metro team in 1978 and 79. Spiering lives in Florida and is a field safety manager for Landstar Transportation. Her father, Richard Spiering, graduated from Cathedral in 1943 and was a member of the original Hall of Fame class in 1990.
Emily Coborn Wright graduated in 2004 and took home a state championship in the long jump and the 4 x 100m relay in 2003. In 2002, she finished third in state in the 100m hurdles. In 2004, she was second in the 4 x 100m relay. Coborn Wright also starred in basketball and cross-country. Emily is a Business Leader for Coborn’s Inc.
Steve Feddema finished at the high school in 1981 and made himself a fixture in the athletic program before that. Feddema has been the Cathedral boys basketball team’s stat keeper and has been working the scoreboard for nearly 45 years and is still doing it today. He watches game film to do the stats. Feddema also kept the book and stats for the baseball team in high school. Many CHS coaches have relied on Steve’s insights and analysis of stats over the years. “Feds” is loved by generations of Cathedral basketball players, families, and fans.
According to the school officials, Ron and Jane Brown have been a key contributor to the schools success. Ron coached hockey at Cathedral for 43 years and Jane has been the team mom nearly the entire time. They hosted “Brownie Dinners” for the team each year at their home. Jane has also served as the team videographer for 30 years. She was a member of the first parent council at Cathedral in 1982 when their children started school there. Jane has maintained bulletin boards and outside flowers at St. Mary’s Cathedral for years. Ron and Jane also welcomed many international students into their home. According to the school, the two have been coaches, moms, dads, and grandparents to generations of students.
