(KNSI) — The Minnesota Humanities Center is teaming up with Danger Boat Productions to bring the inaugural Sketches of Minnesota: Civic Community Comedy Tour to St. Cloud.
The ball started rolling in May of 2024 when the Paramount Center for the Arts won the bid to have the group come here. They made their visit in July to collect stories, talk to residents, and ask questions about the community.
They took the information on what people like best about St. Cloud and Waite Park, what the future could look like, where people from out of town get it wrong, and the divisions in the community that are most concerning to create an ad-libbed skit. The troupe’s sketch writer listened to what worked best and then turned it into a script used on the final show, weaving together all seven locations in the tour.
The rehearsed show will showcase what each community feels makes their corner of Minnesota feel like home. Producers say it’s like going along on the year-long Sketches of Minnesota road trip, but you get to enjoy the highlights from the comfort of a theater seat.
The tour stop is on Tuesday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. Doors for the show open at 6:30 p.m. at the Paramount. The event is free, and seating is general admission, but registration is requested.
