Mom Son Superhero Party Takes Flight This Saturday

(KNSI) – How do you get your son to take mom out for a date? Add in capes, costumes, and action, of course!

Leighton Media Executive Director of Events Cole Erie says this event is a natural follow-up to the always-successful Daddy Daughter Date Night. “We had a lot of requests from the community. They said, ‘Hey, we love what you’re doing for the Daddy Daughter Date Night. We’d love to see an event put together for moms and sons,’ and insert the Mom Son Superhero Party.”

There’s no telling how many origin stories will be traced back to this Saturday’s event. From Aunt May to Martha Kent, there are tons of examples of the influence of a mother or close family member on comic book champions. On top of that, Erie promises fun for ages three through 12.

“Captain America, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are going to be at the event. So, you’re going to get to take a picture with your favorite superhero. Everybody who comes to the event and buys a ticket is going to get a superhero cape. You’re also — there’s an activity where you’re going to get to build a superhero mask. There’s a superhero training facility.”

Expect some (hopefully) controlled chaos. Erie outlines how the little heroes will be tested at the training facility. “We’re practicing our balance on the balance beam. There is a Thor’s hammer toss, which is kind of fun. There’s some Nerf gun setups. So, we’re gonna do some zombie target shooting. They’re gonna have to shoot a basketball.”

Add in some face painting and bounce houses, and there will be enough heroics on display big enough to overcome the most devious, diabolical devices of the worst rogues’ gallery and a thousand henchmen.

The event is this Saturday at the Sartell Community Center from 11:00 to 3:00. Tickets are available online. A combo ticket for one parent and one child is $15, and each additional son gets in for just $10. A link to buy tickets is here.
