(KNSI) – The president of the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University has been tapped by Governor Tim Walz for a state commission.
Brian Bruess will join the Workforce Development Board until July 2028. He is filling the seat dedicated to an official from secondary, postsecondary, or career and technical education. Organized under the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, the group is tasked with developing a mandatory plan to help Minnesota comply with the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
Its goal is to ensure that schools and colleges prepare students for careers and that continuing education allows workers to master new technologies that are changing the way their industry does business. The board typically meets on a quarterly basis.
Bruess is replacing Paul Pribbenow, whose term has expired. Pribbenow is the president of Augsburg University in Minneapolis.
