(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Police Department was called out to a domestic violence situation that turned into an armed standoff on Saturday.
The incident happened just after 3:00 p.m. at a home in the 1300 block of 12th Avenue North. The first officers on scene were able to find the victim immediately. She lived at the house and had several visible injuries. She told police that the man who hurt her was in the basement.
SCPD pulled the woman and her four children outside and called in SWAT. Officers attempted to start a conversation with the man, but he moved further into the basement, away from the stairs, and began threatening to shoot himself.
After two hours of negotiations, he came out and was arrested without incident. The suspect is currently at the Stearns County Jail.
