(KNSI) – The Pine Grove Zoo is tickling the ivories for one of its biggest fundraisers of the year.

The entertainment duo Deuces Wild! Dueling Pianos will play at the Falls Ballroom on February 7th, helping bring in cash for dueling purposes. Zoo Director Marnita VanHoecke explains.

“This fundraiser’s money goes to zoo improvements, and within the night there is kind of its own little fundraiser. We call it the four minute song. So, for the length of one song that the guys play, we run around and try and collect as many donations as we can, and that usually goes toward a new animal.”

As far as what animal that might be, VanHoecke is keeping it under wraps. Those in attendance at Zoo Gone Wild will be the first to find out.

VanHoecke doesn’t want to overlook how important the help with operational expenses is, though. She believes the Pine Grove Zoo offers a unique experience that is appreciated by visitors. She elaborates on what makes the zoo special.

“We really try to fill the niche of the person who just wants to know a little more about these animals, and not just that it’s a tiger or an otter or kangaroo, but really get in depth about the personal side of these amazing animals’ lives.”

A link to buy tickets is here. The cost is $60 and includes a free admission pass to the zoo for anytime during 2025. The zoo will reopen to the public on April 17th.
