(KNSI) – From constellations to the moon and various planets, even shooting stars, the night sky tells a compelling story that most don’t get to see.
Conservation Minnesota is teaming up with the organization Globe at Night to educate people about the impact of light pollution. The event will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28th, at the Nature Center at Warner Lake County Park.
There will be an indoor presentation, and then attendees have a chance to get hands-on by putting what they learn into action. A portion of the program involves going outside to take night sky brightness observations.
Globe at Night relies on the public to self-submit the level of light pollution at their homes. They hope the campaign will help raise awareness of the impact of neighborhoods and development on blocking out our view of the galaxy around us.
