(KNSI) – A truck driver and his passenger were injured in a crash on Interstate 94 in St. Joseph Township early Thursday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol’s preliminary accident report, it says around 5:45, 26-year-old Joby Joy was heading east on 94 near milepost 162 when the rig started to skid on an icy stretch of roadway, and he lost control. The truck went into the center median and then into the Sauk River.

Both he and his passenger were taken to CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.

It was one of two big crashes in central Minnesota Thursday, likely due to icy roads.

Minutes after the first crash in St. Joseph Township, the state patrol says two semi trucks and two passenger vehicles were all eastbound on 94 in Monticello Township when they collided.

A total of five people were involved. Four of them were not injured. Twenty-two-year-old Khatra Abdi of St. Cloud was taken to CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
