(KNSI) — Participants in Saturday’s People’s March downtown St. Cloud will have to brave the cold as they join with others around the country to make their voices heard.

The People’s March is a movement meant to demonstrate unity and advocate for social justice.

The event starts January 18th at 1:00 p.m. at the Great River Regional Library, where marchers can make signs. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own sign-making materials, though some supplies will be available at the library. Organizers say that allows people to create personalized messages reflecting their concerns and hopes for the community.

At 1:30 p.m., marchers will make their way to the Stearns County Courthouse for a brief program featuring local speakers and community leaders. Hundreds are expected for the event and are encouraged to bundle up as highs will be in the single digits above zero with gusty northwest winds.

The event is free and open to the public.

The March is one of the hundreds taking place across the country in defiance of President-elect Donald Trump taking the oath of office on January 20th.
