(KNSI)—The National Football League could be facing a second straight year with a major unexpected change to its postseason schedule, this one involving the Vikings.

In 2024, a first round game between the Bills and Steelers was pushed back a day due to heavy lake effect snow in Buffalo, New York. The teams faced off on a Monday afternoon with fans trying to nestle into makeshift seats made from six to 12 inches of fresh powder.

The league is again drafting contingency plans, this time for the Monday night tilt between Minnesota and Los Angeles. With wildfires raging across 30,000 acres and hydrants running dry, hundreds of thousands of LA County residents are being forced to evacuate.

Winds are expected to begin to die down, which will help with containment, but if the situation flares up again, the NFL has said it would move the playoff game to State Farm Stadium near Phoenix, where the Cardinals play. It would be the first time ever that the league has had to switch sites for a playoff game.
