(KNSI) – Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity is sending its condolences as the nation says goodbye to the 39th President.
Thursday has been declared a national day of mourning for Jimmy Carter’s funeral in Washington D.C.
The St. Cloud-based organization stated, “We Join the entire Habitat community in honoring the work and impact the President and Roselyn Carter have made for families around the world. The Carters began their Habitat for Humanity volunteering back in 1984. Their memory lives on through the annual Carter Work Project, bringing together volunteers from across the country, most recently in the Twin Cities. The Carters put their faith into action. As we honor their time with us and the amazing work they have done, we can reflect on their generosity to continue to motivate our desire to serve.”
According to its website, CMHFH has built and assisted 111 families in becoming homeowners in Stearns, Sherburne, Benton and Wright County since its founding.
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is honoring the late President’s legacy by signing a large wall at the New Brighton re-store. The piece of lumber will eventually be used to build houses and will forever be a part of Carter’s Habitat for Humanity legacy.
