(KNSI) – Three of four suspects have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a home in Baldwin Township.
According to Sherburne County Sheriff’s Commander Ben Zawacki, on December 18th, two men entered an occupied home and stole a safe containing over $100,000 in cash. Surveillance cameras captured footage of the suspects leaving the home with the safe. A woman inside the house was sleeping at the time and was unaware of what was going on, but the homeowner provided investigators with a possible identification of one of the suspects seen in the video.
The sheriff’s office started a multi-agency investigation involving the Anoka-Hennepin Narcotics and Violent Crime Task Force, Minneapolis, St. Paul and Coon Rapids Police Departments, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Investigators found $36,000 of the stolen money, with $11,000 recovered as recently as Sunday.
Thirty-one-year-old Yonathan Jose Gamboa Zambrano has been charged with first-degree burglary. He is being held on $600,000 bail. Twenty-two-year-old Brandon Marlon Garcia-Becerril, who police say was armed at the time he entered the home, was also charged with first-degree burglary but may have run away to Mexico. Twenty-one-year-old Carlos Anthonio Veloz-Garcia and 20-year-old Jennifer Damary Barrera Henriquez were also arrested. They have both been charged with three counts of aiding and abetting first-degree burglary.
The case is still active.
