Icy, Foggy Road Conditions Contributing Factor in Monday Crash

(KNSI) – A woman was rushed to the hospital after crashing her vehicle in low visibility conditions in rural Stearns County Monday morning.

Around 5:15, the dispatch center detected a crash from an Apple device at County Road 9 and 360th Street in Avon Township. Deputies found the crash about two miles north of Avon.

A van was in the ditch on the east side of County Road 9 at a T-intersection. The 71-year-old womanwas headed east on 360th Street and slid across the intersection into the ditch. She was wearing her seatbelt. The Albany native was taken to CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital for her injuries. Her current condition is unknown.

Investigators say at the time of the crash, there was thick fog and icy road conditions.
